The Challenge Continues...

Welcome to the 2009 Montana Library 2.0 Challenge!  Montana librarians once again have the opportunity to explore, discover, play, and LEARN about new Web 2.0 technology and how it can be useful in life and at the library.   This year, we'll be looking at some of the apps we missed last time around, including IM, microblogging, social networks and more.  We'll also take a closer look at some of technologies we only scratched the surface of last year.

Anyone who works in a Montana Library is invited to participate in the 2009 Montana Library 2.0 Challenge - whether you are a returning Challenger and you want to continue the journey of discovery, or you'd like a little more experience with some particular tools, or even if you're totally new to the web 2.0 experience.

If you are a newbie, you'll want to read through the Frequently Asked Questions to learn how this self-directed learning program works.  You may also want to take a look at the orginal Learning 2.0 program which we have adapted for the Challenge.

The spring session of the 2009 Challenge is scheduled to run from March 16 until June 1.  The session includes five lessons on: Communications 2.0, Microblogging (Twitter), Social Networking Sites, the power of RSS, and discovering Web 2.0 tools.

We made a few changes in the program based on feedback from participants in last year's Challenge:

  • You have two weeks to complete each lesson (except for the final lesson, which is one week).
  • Lessons offer a more challenging level of activity and more CE value.
  • You can elect to take any or all lessons.  CE credit is awarded on a per lesson basis - the lessons  must be completed during the two-week time period specified on the program calendar if you want to earn credit (these are the times when the program facilitators will be available to track your progress).  Each completed lesson is valued at one CE contact hour - up to 5 CE contact hours in technology are available for completing the whole program.

Are you ready for the Challenge?  Then it's time to Get Started with registration!
